I like this idea, too, but I think they have the flow backwards.  Their setup will catch trash and concentrate it in the bottom of the 'net' which will correspond to where the outlet is...blocking flow.    The screen may even pull away from its catch tabs on the sides and allow dirty water to flow around it.  Turn it around, and the trash will be pushed to the sides and out of the way...where it will be held, to be cleaned out on the next preflight.  Once you've found it empty enough times to be sure your system is clean, it will only need to be checked when the water level is topped off or at annual.  The partially obstructed  will also be pushed harder against the tabs, for a positive lock.
