Many of the engines have the "racing beat" underdrive pulley
(mine did coming from Bruce), and I just did the 'retrofit' to change the oil
disable pellet under the pulley, because the dimensions of the pulley were
slightly different than standard Mazda pulley so the pellet had to be a little
longer.

Hi Bill,
You're above comments
got my attention, since I just changed my e-shaft pulley from stock, to the one
Mazdatrix sells (probably the same Racing Beat pulley). My engine was
modified by Bruce in the past, and had the aluminum bypass pellet
installed. I got a new pellet with the overhaul kit, but it looked the
same as the one I already had, so I saved the new one for possible use in the
single rotor. I just checked Bruce's site, and his description of the
pellet states that it works with aftermarket underdrive pulleys. Mazdatrix
sells these too, as well as the pulleys, and doesn't mention any problems using
the bypass with their pulleys.
My question here is why
did you have to change yours? Didn't it come from Bruce with the pellet
already installed on the underdrive pulley? What would make you feel like you
needed to change that?
I'm going to be out in
the garage later, playing with some of these parts to make sure I feel
comfortable with what I've just installed.
Cheers,
Rusty
PS- I'm definitely in
for one or two of the e-shaft alternators, perhaps belt free for the single
rotor.
