Yes, why not?  I did try to keep the pumps as low as possible.  Mine are on the floor of the cabin a few inches from the left tank.  But Dave Atkins runs them from the middle of the engine compartment without problem.  Tracy also runs his directly from the tank, but I don't know where his pumps are.
