The finned pan is another one of those ideas that absolutely must work, but leaves a big question of just how much good it does. I have to admit that I've been trying to figure a way to put an oil/water cooler in the new pan, or maybe some fins...

I wouldn't pretend to have the answers, but questions for me would be:
Would the improvement from pan fins offset the loss of delta-t advantage in the cooler?
How much drag will be added to get useful airflow to the pan?
Could I improve airflow through the cooler & gain more benefit than putting fins on the pan?
Most aerodynamicists say that how you leave the air is more important than how you meet it. How about adding an exit duct to the small cooler & use an exit designed to create a low pressure zone at the exit?
