1/4" is just that, one quarter of an inch.
or as I also wrote it, 0.25 of an inch. The OD of the tube I used is 1/4" so for
that reason I also used springs with an OD and an ID of 1/4" (two different
springs of coarse). I'm not sure how easy it is to find the correct springs. At
work we have a large kit of many types, styles and sizes of springs.
They all have an "eye" on the ends, that needs to be clipped off and the spring
clipped to length. I've never considered it before, but I've never tried to buy
springs elsewhere before. I would imagine most industrial supply stores should
carry them.
