I’m in CA, (San Diego county), and when I got my N number I did get a
notice from the county wanting information on value, etc.; and informing me
that I would have to pay tax. I simply responded with a note that what I
had was rolls of fiberglass cloth, bottles of epoxy, nuts and bolts, etc; and
that it would be many years before it would be an airplane. Never heard
from them again.
