Start-up at 70F ambient gets me 80 -
85PSI. Once the oil gets hot I'm seeing about 15 or so at idle, 25 PSI
at 2000 rpm, 45 PSI at 3500 rpm, and maybe 60 PSI at 4000. Talking
about today with Tracy he felt it was marginal, and was wondering if this
might be normal with a combination of a turbo and a redrive both taking
pressure.
You have an FD engine right? I would
assume you also have the stock FD regulator. You have a redrive
that takes extra oil, however you only have one turbo, rather than two as
the FD's do, so I'm thinking that makes you even. Here's the direct
info from the FD manual. Sounds like your pressure is a little low.
-Start the engine and let it warm up to operating
temperature.
- run the engine at 3,000 rpm, and not the gauge
reading.
- Oil pressure: 50 psi
min.
You aren't using the stock
Mazda oil pressure sender are you? Those are odd units, and are
known to be crap. If you're trying to use one of those, stop right
now and get a decent
sender.
Good
luck,
Rusty (can't wait to see
what's inside the
smoker)
