Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: Oil coolers

I found this company while researching oil coolers. Does anyone have any experience or information about these products. They advertise they pressure test the coolers to 300 psi. Fluidyne advertises testing at 200 psi. They look rugged.

Bobby;

I’d guess the hp ratings are pretty meaningless; probably based on a piston engine operating at about 30%, or less, max rating.  The widely spaced, round tubes with fins likely gives a fairly low heat density – low rejection per unit volume of core.  But these are just my judgments.  Have the manufacturer give you test data of measured heat rejection at conditions similar your application.
