The gearbox on the Eagle540 has its own oil pump / filter / cooler and the [McCauley] prop governor is mounted directly to it. It uses its own oil supply (designed for gears instead of engines) to spray-lubricate the gears and its pump provides clean, cooled oil to the prop governor for its final pressure boost. One nice thing about having a closed lubrication system for the gearbox is that you can use oil which is optimized for that purpose, and tracking its separate oil pressure and temperature provides some warm fuzzies re the condition of the gear box. Just thought I'd share the data point.

Hi Ed,
No, this will utilize the typical oil driven type cs prop governors
found on 99% of aircraft now. It will be fed and will supply oil to the
prop hub just like most typical cs props-just like Mistral's unit and
the Marcotte unit (but much more economical, if we can pull it off). I
want to use a Whirlwind type prop-they use Hartzell type cs hubs. It
will have a typical SAE cs type prop flange. Use any cs prop. It is
based on a planetary reduction in production for other uses
(helicopters) in Eastern Europe.
