Yes, I had discussed it with a couple of the organizers and Paul Lamar was there with a hand held radio. He told the anouncer when I was inbound and he made an announcement. Unfortunately, the airport was very busy at the time and I was unable to maneuver into a good position (sevenstock is on 1/4 mile short final to Orange County airport. One of the busist airports in the country. The announcement also came too late.
However, I left the event a little early and tried again on the way out. This time I was right overhead "maneuvering as necessary" for landing, at an "altitude approiate for landing" and at "less than 30 angle of bank." I'm quite sure that croud had no trouble identifying the sound of my engine. Funny, somehow I was going too fast to land and had to go around. :-) I haven't heard any feedback from someone on the ground yet.

Did a fly over at sevenstock yesterday, turned out great. That is a great
event for a rotor head. Got to hear the 4 rotor leManz (sp?) winner running
as well as several other race cars.
Cool. Did anyone at the event expect this, so they could point it out to
the crowd?
