Ok, I though that it might be.  I found a way of getting them off without the hole as I figured with my luck I would drill all the way through.  But, you are right that Grey sealant must stick with hundreds of lbs. of force.

If you note on the photo of Rusty's RD-1B it does not have a hole in the spacer although it sure looks like someone started to make one {:>)

 
Hey, that's the 100% manufacturers authorized 1/4" hole that's used to pry the damn thing loose :-)
