during the Olympics there is a commercial showing some Vikings sailing, even water skiing, while the other sailors still row their boats.  they also show some wind turbines.  I noticed that the blades on the turbines look very much like the ellipse prop, a high ratio, very thin chord.  someday maybe house fans might even have blades that work efficiently (ever see a plane with a prop like a fan?  they look more like boat props to me).  I just find it interesting how after something is brought to your attention, you start seeing it elsewhere.  another obvious example is ed's manifold work.  articles are springing up in several mags about that phenomenon.
