Steve and I stopped at KCQF on the way home from Greenville – and Continental does indeed operate the airport including the FBO. They did furnish us a courtesy car for lunch and have snacks/water/soft drinks/popcorn in their lounge. Also WiFi and TV. They were very courteous and efficient. We had them calibrate our fuel system. The town of Fairhope is very charming with an old south feel. Our hotel is right in town so walking distance to shops and restaurants. Do check the weather – it will typically be wonderful early summer weather for anyone north of the Mason-Dixon line so most likely warm.

Dennis,
We are being hosted by the Continental Motors Factory Service Center at KCQF. 251-990-5080; Kyle Klinner in charge. It’s a small airport and they are likely (?) the only FBO on the field? Kyle is working with Neal George from the downtown Mobile Continental factory on our gathering. We now expect about 25 Lancairs of various types.
To answer your specific question, there are two local car rental agencies that will deliver a car to the FBO and leave a contract for you to “sign and drive.”
Enterprise @ 251-928-6810, and
Hertz @ 251-625-4398 (Ashley Hanna there is great to work with)
Judy and I plan to rent a car so she can get the ladies to/from the flower show, but unless you want to sightsee/tour the area on your own (recommended if you have time), you won’t need a car to get to/from the hotel and the Continental events…they plan to provide “group transportation” so as to keep us together anyway… J
If you do rent a car, would Janice be willing to drive to/from Bellingrath gardens on Friday if needed? (Right now we think we’re covered, but a backup/extra car in case we get more sign-ups would be nice…
Hope this helps. I’m sorry I’ve not gotten more planning details out on this; swamped at work for a few more days…
Bob
Is there a recommeded FBO at Fairhope (KCQF) to pick up a rental car and for parking for the maintenance clinic?
