recently, a "test pilot" actually shut down my turbine on purpose at around 12000 ft to see how well the blades stopped(which they did) and restarted my turbine at 9000'.  He was by himself and probably with around 70 gallons of fuel(approximate) and he told me that at 120kts he saw a descent rate of 700 fpm.  i wanted to do this with him but the timing didn't work out.

Would those brave souls who have practised "actual" engine out maneuvers in
the IV  please
let me know what rate of descent vs fuel weight that they have experienced
in the pattern.  Also pattern altitude
if much higher than sea level.
(My wife wont let me shut the engine down with the gear retracted--DRAT)

I have been using speed brakes and 800 RPM with prop full forward at 120
kts. and I usually practise
with less than 50 gal fuel.

Would like to get my rate of descent close to actual.

Help would be appreciated.

Regards, Bill Hogarty
