I had 18 hrs on my Performance Engines IO-550 when I had it rebuilt. There were numerous issues, main bearing out of whack, Starter bearing cracked, oil pump gears grinding each other away, lots of evidence of a "dirty" build with multiple score marks, but I think the most damning was the use of regular hardware store nuts (not high strength ones) on the crankcase through bolts. Please, Please if you know anyone comtemplating having Performance build them an engine, talk them out of it. You at least will save them a lot of money, and maybe something more dear.
