Too much power is never enough, as the saying goes.  IMHO, humble or not, I would opt for the IO-550N engine in half a heartbeat.  Slight weight tradeoff aside, the fact that 310hp is available in a simple normally aspirated engine. Any turbo system, normalized or boosted, adds complexity, cost, more heat to dissipate, and generally shortens the life expectancy of the cylinders.  Improper operation of the turbo is costly....   I had the IO550G in my IV and before selling it I installed a "normalizing" system on it that worked as advertised, but for all the reasons above, if I hadn't sold it I would have removed the system and been a happier camper for doing so.  I subscribe to the KISS  principle whenever possible.  More stuff= more possibilities of problems and breakdowns.

Humbly:

Mike DeHate
