John Forker of Palo Alto, CA contacted me about long range tanks.  He
bought Chris Toms' plane and must now ferry it from Auckland to
California.  We are investigating several sources of tanks including
custom aluminum weld ups and bladders contained in boxes to sit in the
back seat and provide 120 gallons of capacity.

If you are interested in participating in a possible quantity buy to get

reduced pricing, please let me know.  We will need dimensional
information from various aircraft to make sure that one size fits all.
The current concept is to use two aluminum weld up tanks (necessary to
get the through the door) that sit where the two rear seat cushions
normally sit, extending over the front edge of the landing gear box into

the foot well area about 5-6 inches.  Two way valves on the bottom of
the tanks would permit selection of either fuselage tanks or wing
tanks.  Anchoring would be via high strength straps and use of the
existing rear seat belt anchor points.  The tanks would be about 30 - 32

inches high depending on final width.

Once we get a rough idea of interest and quantity, we can go out for
bids.  Also, names of any suggested suppliers would be welcome.

Fred Moreno
