I am ready to assemble the canopy to the canopy frame. I have the forward
opening type. I have placed the frame on the bench up side down with its
two temporary supports in place. I have laid the canopy inside the frame and
aligned it with the frame. The position of the front of the canopy is
determined by the carbon stiffening that has been applied and here I have an
overlap of 5/8" more or less. With the canopy in this fore and aft position
the rear edge of the canopy is about 3/4" forward of the roll over. In
other words before I trim the canopy there is a large overlap at the rear.
On the sides the canopy clears the longtitudinal canopy frame stiffeners
more or less 1/2". Again there is a very wide overlap at both sides. The
manual calls for a 5/8" overlap as a minimum, page 17.26. The sketches on
17.27 and 17.29 give the impression of a much wider overlap.
Does anybody have any advice for me as to the maximum amount of overlap
canopy/frame and what did other builders do? Did anyone else have a rather
large canopy when compared to the frame? It just seems to me that the
canopy is really large when compared with the canopy frame in the uncut
state. I do not want to cut first and regret later.
Kind regards
Ian
