Scott,
I mounted my hydralic power pack in the nose gear tunnel dip, without
header tank. It will not all fit in that dip, I just got as much as I
could in with some even spacing around the edges and the bottom to avoid
any vibration rubs on the plastic bowl, floxed in a piece of aluminum angle
to mount the pack to and (disclaimer) it has done fine for 35 hours of
flight. Above the pack I relieved the bottom of the forward deck skin and
applied a couple of bid over that area to insure no rub. There are some
advantages to a forward location, one of which is you have less aluminum
lines going aft of the spar and can re plumb a good portion of the system
to take advantage of that simplification. There are no heat issues
associated with the location and I would not imagine any would be found
with any other forward installation.
