<Double the trouble! hehe>
Au Contrair!
My Skymaster is exactly 2.63579 times the trouble of a Single.
Now for benefits:
1) Anti-Ice boot on front prop only -- Rear is Heat-Cleaned from engine.
2) Horizontal Stab is the last surface to ice up - Same as 1 above.
3) Extra pitch control authority via rear engine blast over Horizontal Stab.
4) 2 (count'em), 2 Rudders for greater control and as a backup in case a
midair chops one off.
5) Placement of engines, as counterweights, provides for a large CG range --
hard to load out of CG. In a water landing, the nose won't sink first.
6) Wing leading edge is much further back than other aircraft (see #5 above),
single or twin, providing the pilot/co-pilot with very good visibility.
7) Simple fuel system - LeFt wing tanks feed the Front, Right wing tanks feed
the Rear. There is no messing with the selector valve.
8) Engine controls and instruments easy to understand -- LeFt is Front
because both have an "F" in them and Right is Rear because both have an "R"
in them.
9) The same engine is used in the front and rear -- no counter-rotating
nonsense is required. The only difference is the length of the oil filler
tube.
10) 2 of everything - alternators, vacuum pumps, wings, booms, rudders,
yokes, etc.

PS: Perhaps two IV's could be joined at the stub wing -- called the Twin
VIII. Nah, too many wheels.
