I've got about 20 hours on my 320 now and soot on the belly is a big
problem.
I wash it all off and within 2-3 hours the belly is a dry, sooty mess.
Hello Dan,
I had the same soot problem on the bottom of our 320 for 550 hours. The
other day at OSH I ran into Chuck Brenner of CHB Aviation. He makes slip-on
turn-down piccolo tube mufflers. Now, I have not a trace of exhaust on the
belly and the sound levels are noticably quieter inside the airplane as well
as outside. They are made of stainless steel and come with the clamps with a
pin built in. You just slip 'em on, drill one hole in each exhaust pipe and
clamp 'em on. Takes no more than 5 minutes to install them both.
Here's the info:

Ask for the turned down piccolo tube (perforated muffler). I paid $35 a
piece for 'em at OSH.
