Many thanks to Jan and to Ross Farnham of SDS Racetech and to Fred Felix of Felix props, and all the guys at Lancair, especially Orin Ridell who's no longer there. And of course to Larry Henney who made the first flight, and to Tom Wheeler, my flight instructor. The performance exceeded my expectations- 160 kts indicated at 3710 engine rpm (2038 prop) burning around 9 gph, 40" mp. 160 kts was target max indicated for first flight. Coolant temperatures were about 200F. Can't wait to find out what the safe perfomance limitations on this craft are. Ridge Dickey [Congratulations on getting another alternative engine-powered Lancair out of the shop and into the air. I'm impressed to see your report of coolant temps under control on the first flight... that's the most typical bugaboo of automotive conversions. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your airplane as you expand the flight envelope. Keep up the great work, Ridge, and by all means, keep us advised of your flight testing progress. ]
