I recently returned from a family vacation to Jackson. If you're there
on a weekday and get a rental car accommodations can be found in
Jackson. Several of the smaller local hotels will have vacancies, not
inexpensive. On weekends we were able to find rooms if we looked before
5 or 6pm. I've never used the FBO but the area is beautiful.

Hotels we found rooms without reservations are;
                49er Inn
                The Virginian

Both were adequate but not cheap.
A local guy gave us the name of a couple other places but they looked
rough.
