The sole occupant was the 78-year-old pilot William Cody of Ridgefield, WA. He was reportedly not injured, but got out of the aircraft just before it erupted into flames, which apparently consumed the aircraft. One account stated that the Lancair 360 was powered by a "converted Oldsmobile engine" and had only 7 or 8 hours of flight time. The builders were reportedly trying to solve engine cooling problems. (These automotive engine conversions can be very tricky) A complete story can be seen at: http://www.oregonlive.com/metronorth/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/metro_north_news/1060430416320070.xml Jack Kane EPI, Inc. --part1_134.23a3b7e9.2c66ada8_boundary Content-Type: text/html; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Sad to report, but =20= Thursday afternoon, a relatively new 360 crashed and burned on a westbound f= reeway segment just south of Pearson Field in Vancouver, Washington.
