I too am learning from this discussion. I have been rotating at 65 Kts in my L4P and I still don't lift off until 80 to 90 Kts, depending on weight and DA. After reading Brent's and Jeff's comments I do know that you get much better Aileron authority with increased airspeed. I remember once taking off at South Lake Tahoe, long ago, in a Piper 180 behind a commuter twin airliner. That was high and hot and it wouldn't climb much so I let it accurate to 100 in ground effect. At less than 100 ft it rolled to the right and with full left aileron it still rolled 60* to the right. I thought it was going over but just that quick I had control again. This incident made me a believer in higher take off speed. I will start rotation at 85 Kts and see how that works. Secondly, Your stitches reminded me of the sunvisor issue. Before I did my interior I rode in a 4P that had the Rosin visors removed and the studs were still sticking out of the headliner. I told the guy that he could get them in his head if he hit the right turbulence. He showed me what he used and even though I was going to put in the Rosin visors I opted for his fix. They are the best thing going for a L4P. These are 2 sunshades that fold up into a bag about 7 in. square and unfold to about 17X20 with a push pull suction cup on each end. They can be put on any window and even span the post. Easy to move, remove, walk across the window with sun movement and are soft. They will never hurt you. They cost $4.00 at Walgren's for a pack of TWO and come in Sliver (I like), Black, and Beige. For your Heads sake get ride of the hard stuff around your head. These work Great.
