What's going on with the AN5812 heated pitot tube?  My '01-'02 ACS
catalog lists it for $154, plus $10 for the connector.  Now the 12 volt
version is listing for something like $430, plus $47 for the same plastic
connector?  That's triple in two years -- I didn't even need a calculator
for that.

I'd noticed that myself a few weeks ago and thought it had to be a misprint!
I just spoke with Vern and he said that Lancair sells them for ONLY $ 275.
That's an outrageous price for little more than a piece of cast aluminum
with a thin chrome plating!
And it doesn't end there...Barry rubber isolators have gone from $ 59/ea
three years ago to $ 95/ea now. That's $ 400. to replace a set and also
outrageous!
I hope that my flap motor never fails, ACS now sells them for ONLY $ 800.
