A few observation seem in order. 1. It seems that the performance of the turbine is related to horsepower, while fuel flow is more related to the type of engine. Thus, the better compromise might be a larger piston engine. Might I suggest the 500hp Eagle? There when you turn the wick down, fuel flow goes way down, and low altitudes make sense on occasion. 2. If cabin noise is related to airspeed and not the engine, perhaps someone could prove it by flying with a sound meter. At high altitude and speed, turn the wick to idle with high pitch on the prop. Tell us the dB. 3. If fuel is such an issue (particularly for turbines) has anyone engineered tip tanks? Properly done, could they substitute for winglets (or incorporate winglets)? 4. The final answer on EPS will be seen in the air and wallets of customers. The same is true for Eagle. American Engine has been very quiet, and has (to my knowledge) two engines flying. Test data has been very encouraging. I hope to have mine flying by summer. 5. To all, have a joyous holiday season, and FLY SAFE.
