This give me a channel that grips the longeron area firmly. This keeps the "ballooning" that Greyhawk talks about down to near zero and helps seal the canopy sides. I have a double "p" strip on all four sides of the canopy bottom. On the rollover the "p" strip extends down as far as possible before it shears. From that point down, I put the cloth side of a velcro strip on that slides easily instead of shearing. I have absolutely no leakage in the canopy at all. (Even at Grease and Hollis beating high speeds!) On another subject, > "Why can't you? It is your airplane, and you are the only renter, no > commercial operations are taking place... > Plenty of experimentals are owned by corporations." John, The feds never mention "commercial operation". They do mention "compensation" or hire. They have an EXTREMELY wide definition of what constitutes "compensation". If you pay another entity to use the airplane, you are "compensating" them. It doesn't have to be for profit. There is a whole lot of legal precident with this sort of stuff , all supporting the fed's viewpoint. My strong suspision is that if you went up against the feds with this, you'd loose. (We usually do when we go up against them on just about anything). Remember, they get to be investigator, prosecutor, and judge. They rarely loose cases, even when they're wrong.
