I am an EngineAir customer and when the original company failed last year, I helped to restart the new (replacement) company, Engine Power Systems, which has attempted to pick up the ashes and make a fresh new start. Over 90% of the original EngineAir customers have participated in this restart activity, presumably because of their interest and commitment to the success of the product. The new company has worked diligently to correct the problems of the past which has not been easy, but the task continues nonetheless. Clearly I have a strong interest in seeing the new company succeed. I am way down the list of deliveries and hope to receive my package in 2002. My suggestion is that we all recognize that to the extent that new engines, products, and airframes become available, we ALL benefit because there is greater choice and greater competition. Therefore we should all work to help those who are taking the plunge to develop something new, or at least hope they are successful. And recognize that it takes time, money, commitment, patience, and tenacity. If folks focus only at the failures, foibles, and difficulties of the past, nothing new would be developed. It has often been noted that the pioneers can be identified by the arrows sticking out of their bodies, particularly those stuck in their backs. I suggest that arrows in the back are of limited help to the community at large. Let's see how this story turns out (recognizing that it will take longer than expected - this is aviation, after all). It has also been noted that those that can, do. Those that can't become critics. This forum is made up of those that can. If we can make progress, we should try to do so.
