While some folks seem to sort of enjoy that ritual, I just wanted to get the thing started easily and reliably. I bought a "Slick Start Mag Booster" from Aircraft Spruce for about $250. Simple three wire install. It's only energized while the starter is cranking so it has no effect on engine performance. My fuel injected engine now starts as easily as my car, hot or cold. While it would seem odd to "fix" a fuel / air problem with a mag booster, it really did work for me. It shoots enough voltage through the plugs that they fire even when they are flooded, fouled, frosted or whatever. The fuel / air mixture doesn't have to be near perfect to achieve ignition. Solved my starting problems completely.
