For Walter D.
I constructed the gear sliders for my IV-P right from the directions in the
manual and they seemed to work pretty well during the retraction tests.
My suggestion is to support the fuselage high enough so that you can move
the gear by hand through its entire cycle. Then, with the gear door
attached, you should be able to visualize where the slider will have to be
positioned to keep the door opened while the gear leg moves past it.
I did add some additional carbon fiber bid at the front end of the door where
the gear leg forces the door open at the beginning of the retraction cycle.
The main problem I had was the location of the rear door springs. Ended up
being a trial and error process mainly because the factory had provided me
with door springs for a 2-place Lancair.
Good Luck - Bill Hogarty
