This part I already knew.  But thanks, guys, for all the other suggestions.  
I think I'm going to try the painting myself, since I don't have $10K to pay
someone else.  This tells me it has to be a color-sandable system, since I'm
sure I'll have some ripples, sags and boo-boos.  Today's paint-of-choice is
the water-reducible poly-fiber stuff, but who knows what tomorrow's choice
will be?  

Painting is at least 18 months away, but final surface prep and primer, at
least for the bottom, is gonna happen this summer.  Maybe I should be
painting the bottom first anyway, since the mistakes will be less obvious
there, and by the time I'm doing the top I should be better at it.

I think I'll buy myself "Painting 101" for Christmas....
