Hi,
I hope this is an appropriate question for this list, please let me
know if not.
I'm seriously considering building a Lancair IV or IV-P, and would
like to know some more about its flight characteristics and
suitability as a comfortable trip/cross country airplane.
Specifically:
- Is it stable to fly? Any undesireable traits (like prone to spin,
etc)? How is it as an IFR platform?
- How is it in turbulence?
- How about basic space issues in the cabin? How's the legroom (etc)
and general comfort level?
- How's the baggage space? Limiting?
I have seen and read spec sheets about some of its dimensions, etc,
but would like to find out a little more from a somewhat "subjective"
perspective. I currently own a Cessna 182, and while I understand it
would be different than that I'm trying to get a real feeling for how
much different. Any tips or thoughts are appreciated.
In addition, before I take on such a project I'd love to talk to
someone in the midst of it and if possible see their partially
completed (or even fully completed) project. I live in San Carlos in
the San Francisco Bay area, so if anyone had a few minutes to chat and
let me admire their work I'd really appreciate the opportunity. Even
better, if someone needs a little free labor in exchange, I'll be
happy to lend a hand for at least a few hours.
