Rob,
   Your canopy procedure sounds good.  However, it there is ANY way you can
reposition the ball for the air struts so that they don't have to be compressed
first, it will save you a LOT of trouble.  I've had to take my canopy off
countless times and it is easy to take off the struts that way.
