We have recently finalized the instrument panel design for our Lancair IV-P
and it is a beauty.  The Sierra Flight Systems EFIS 2000 will be the basis
along with a Stormscope, GPS, navcoms, digital encoder, Pulslight and
autopilot.  Kirk sent me the CAD drawing of the panel and it is great
looking as well as very functional and clean.  Kirk has been a major player
with us in the design and I thank him for all his valuable assistance.  He
has put together a jewel of a panel.
We are going with the all electric dual alternator (no vacuum) single
battery system with a back up self powered standby horizon.  Also, we will
have the new LED white light dimmable eyebrow lighting.  It sounds like
perfect simplicity.  The weight savings over the old steam guages we had
originally planned should be over thirty pounds.
Kirk, Lancair and SFS are planning an off the shelf EFIS panel for the
spring and have invested much time in the design.  Ours may be a little
fancier but not much.  I am excited and can't wait to see it in the
aircraft.
