Rob Wolf,
Why Pyrex, for visibility??   Plastics like clear  Polyurethane is very
translucent even in night lighting conditions.  Strength?? Unnecessary
with the pressures of our systems on the suction side.  DO the K.I.S.S.
thing and use Aluminum Fittings & Tbg and a high grade/Petroleum tolerant
plastic
"hose" for fuel lines in the cockpit & wings too.  Vibration is the bane
of aircraft equipment and eventually you will at one time or another, a
fouled plug, or whatever, that will set up the right frequency to shatter
that glass.  I wrap my polyurethane fuel lines with electrical tape for
additional chafeing protection and have had no wear on the tape or
hardening of the plastic lines in 9 years using it.  The original sight
guage was a common Tygon which hardened and shrunk in length slightly in
a year or so in gas service.  Hope this helps..
