John – Thanks for the detailed history. You’re the second person to mention putting diode suppression across the motor terminals. I’ve been following the LML and LNN since 2000 but must have missed that somehow. There have also been several good suggestions for better or different relays. Since this is an existing installation, my plan is to add the bridge rectifier mentioned in the attached article. That should accomplish the same goal of extending relay life and preventing future failures.
