Beta is the blade pitch angle below minim forward flight low pitch (which is Alpha). Reverse is usually the same as beta, but adds RPM while controlling blade angle directly through the low pitch stop/ring. As to Beta vs Reverse, every airplane is different based on prop type, speed envelope, oh shit factors, ect.. But Alpha is positive thrust, and beta is not.
