But if you recogn= ize that this is not a random problem and take precautions to not allow your= hardware to overheat then it should not be an issue. Common factors: direc= t sun in hot climates, direct sun light while enclosed in some sort of carri= er, up against your person for a long period of time. I have seen these uni= ts get heat synced from the sun and then put into use only to have them shut= down due to heat. Now I use my iPhone and iPad all the time, just keep it c= ool to start with and don't put it on the glare shield and you should be fin= e for hours and hours. I have see many poorly cooled avionics stacks fail. Including G-430's and a= few EFIS systems. The TSO's on most unites have a max temp number. If you= do not cool or vent the rear of your panel or avionics compartment you coul= d see strange things happen or complete failures. Electronics must be coole= d! In many cases the unites stay cool enough because of location. But just= because it stays running doesn't mean you are not doing damage that some da= y will manifest itself in some strange way.
