From the Hartzell Owner Manual: B. Maintenance Practices(2) Never attempt to move the aircraft by pulling on the propeller.

If you visit the factory, you can see how the blades get manually tweaked by muscle.  It isn't hard to envision a blade getting tweaked by someone pushing or pulling a foot or two from the hub.    I usually leave my tow bar attached so that anyone can use that to move the Legacy.

The blades in motion are generally pulling tons of force on the hub thereby providing rigidity to the blade not present when the blade is static.   You would have a very difficult time trying to bend the spinning disk (if you had a way to do that) whereas you can easily bend the blade at rest.  Very similar to pressurized soda can having many times more strength than one not pressurized.

If you don't carry a collapsible tow bar, it will always get pushed and pulled by the prop.  Its ramp law.

Why does pushing/pulling on the base of the prop hurt it?  That prop is
pretty robust!  It pulls your plane along at a few hunnert mph and that
doesn't seem to hurt it?

Subject: [LML] Composite Prop and Ramp Guys

I'm at my wits end with ramp guys at various airports pushing or pulling
on my prop to move the airplane around the ramp. What have you guys been
successful with to prevent this? "NO PUSH/PULL" signs do not seem to work,
and my latest method has been to immediately speak with the ramp
supervisor when I arrive at an airport to make sure they understand the
needs of my airplane.

Why is this not basic training for all ramp hands? Am I out of line with
being upset when I come out to see my prop cover/spinner all covered in
greasy hand prints? It really knocks down my confidence level on the next
takeoff thinking that someone has just been using my prop as a handle.

Okay, I'll stop ranting. Just looking for helpful advice
