The original post spoke of an LLC for insurance--not for avoiding sales tax.

Avoiding sales tax in one jurisdiction does not relieve someone in a state (typically) from paying the use tax in that state even if the aircraft or other asset is registered outside the state. Some states even tag on additional sales tax on top of sales tax already paid in another state.

Sales tax is a different issue entirely unless insurance and sales tax are connected somehow that was not explained in the original post.

Nevada does have a sales tax on aircraft when the seller is a Nevada LLC and the sale takes place in the state. How do I know? I was required to pay it.

Hi there

Two states are well known for no sales tax on aircraft boats and other vehicles.

1. Create a corporation (you can do this yourself)
2. Use Nevada or Delaware
3. Get a registered agent. (About $125/year)
4. Register vehicle in the corp name

Smile all the way to the bank
  TOTALLY LEGAL

Where I live the tax would be 8 5/8%. That buys a lot of free lunches
