The aircraft designation is CALIMA T-90, which is used as a Basic Flight Screener / trainer for the Colombian Air Force. They have purchased 25 kits over the last 4 plus years. The maintenance division of the Air Force (CIAC) is responsible for the construction of the aircraft from a kit of materials using Lancair provided tooling and molds. Lancair assisted with training and manufacturing engineering which allows CIAC to build the parts, assemble and flight test the aircraft. Lancair provided training in the US and in the Philippines along with providing technicians in their facility for over a year and a quality inspector for an additional six months to start their production line CIAC plans are to have 25 aircraft complete and in service at their Air Force Academy by first quarter of 2014. The gentleman talking is Colombian Air Force Coronel Martin Zorrilla the project manager and my counterpart. We both have made several trips back and forth between Redmond and Bogota.
