here is my plan

at this time i have not found a set of seat frames.

my proof of concept will be with a "Bomber Seat" i bought on ebay; this will be for the copilot.

i also purchased a set of seat rails. they  look awfully like the rails i see in lancairs. their height is 3/4."

it is my intention to mount the rails as wide as practical and to drop the seat pan 11/16" between the rails and start my Astro foam down between the rails. thus the bulk of the seat pan will have 3/4" of foam when i start adding more for comfort. i will use two or three different firmness of foam/

my initial try will be a total of 1 1/2" of foam in the bottom. the back i will try 3/4 foam initially and 1/2" in the sides.

this should add a little more than 2" in additional seat height and 2 1/2" front to back.

this would not work well for the pilot seat because the bomber seat back is rigid.

the concept will test well and i can always tear my seat apart and rework it.
( i hate plans like that because if there is material needed or a screw-up the plane is out of service until the rework is complete)

the other shortcoming of astronaut foam is that it is hard in the cold weather until your seat warms your seat.

Hi Peter,
I pulled all of the foam out of my seat bottom and would also like to lower the seat pan.  Are you considering this and have you designed the most effective area to lower?
P.S. did you get any offers for seat frames?

I am looking for a seat frame or discarded seat to rebuild:

my seats do not accommodate a 6'-3 friend and i am planning a thin seat back and bottom
in Astrofoam

thanks
