I do not know where you reside or who did the conversion, but clearly the walter engine is a winner, IF the installation in its entirety is done in conformance with the Walter Type Certificate. I have a C-90 that began the conversion under a bogus STC by a scam group out of Tennessee by the name of Phoenix Corp which is now in bankruptcy(thankfully)!! It had to be completed by Turbine Design out of Deland, FL. Douglas Karlsen is probably as knowledgeable as anyone on the Walter and has installed probably100 or so of these and has developed the STC for several ag planes and holds the STC for the only King Air Walter conversion using the E-11 engine. Some key learnings were the limiter system MUST be installed that limits torque and temp, especially critical with the starts. Several Walter's have come apart when the limiter was not installed(not a pretty sight). Also the fuel filter is of a special type that I believe is a 10 micron. The engine mount of course is important as well. I would suggest that your friend contact Doug as he is working on some interesting mods for the Walter including the exhaust stacks and a pitot inlet to increase the power at altitude. You might check out his web site at www.turbinedesign.com. I hope the above helps.
