X-Mailing-List: lancair.list@olsusa.com Reply-To: lancair.list@olsusa.com Mime-Version: 1.0 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<--->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> << Lancair Builders' Mail List >> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<--->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >> Posted for Mark Steitle : I started to send a post a week ago on the subject of Methylene Chloride, but figured that since nobody else had mentioned it that it was a non issue. So why was I having trouble finding MC in Austin, TX. Here's my story: I live in Austin, TX and just started on my ES fastbuild and have been gathering the necessary tools/materials, and a few other things that are just too cool to pass up. However, I have been all over town looking for a supplier for MC but have been unsuccessful. None of them carried MC, but everyone did offer to sell me MEK. I finally located a chemical supplier in San Antonio that carried MC, but with a minimum purchase of 55 gal. Since I didn't think I would need quite that much, I gave up and called Lancair and was told to just use Acetone. So, I went to the local Wally-Mart and bought a gallon of acetone. Now I just need to watch out for ignition sources when prepping my parts for bonding. I was told more than once that it has pretty much been taken off the market by stricter OSHA regulations. So, I went to the OSHA web site and found the full story. There is a full MC history of what has been happening with OSHA and the EPA on this stuff at: . Probably more information than you will ever want to know. As long as Lancair approves, I will go with acetone.
