I got my license as I was building my ES. I am glad I picked the ES as the 4 and 4P to get ins. on the plane you must have 2500hr flying time. I will bet in a short time the L2000 will get the same response as soon as the ins co. see how fast it goes. Lancair now says the ES is the longest time to construct. It took me 4 1\2 years and just had its first flight in July. I do recommend to plan to buy a new eng and prop and not change to an eng that is not offered by Lancair. It will speed up your progress.
