I am focusing on this particular kit in the Lancair line because I am just now working on getting my private pilot certificate. I believe from a safety and insurability standpoint, a tri fixed gear is pretty essential. I believe the Lancair ES would be a great cross-country plane that I can go on trips in with family and friends. There has been some recent discussion regarding the "fighter like performance" of the L2000, 4 & 4P (all the Lancair retract gear kits) and the difficulty level of learning how to fly these planes given their flight characteristics. I assume the ES has flight characteristics mostly same only slightly slower and less efficient. Given the fact that when I would be finishing the project, I would still be a low time pilot, would it be advisable for me to consider a kit that would be more forgiving to a low time pilot?
