At that time you are given specific instructions for your departure and climb to VFR conditions. This is called your "Instrument Flight Plan" ATC may modify or expedite as necessary to fit you in but the "flight plan" is necessary in event of lost co'mmunications. I need a IFR clearance to fly a IFR flight plan. =A0I don't need a= n IFR =A0flight plan (only an IFR clearance) to fly practice local approach= es or IFR - VFR on top from my experience.
