Steve Colwell Legacy 550 Subject: [LML] EVO flap hinge fairing The flap hinges on the Evolution ARE machined out of aluminum and annodized black; there is no carbon fairing. At the last LOBO Fly-In at Sedona I discussed the interest in getting some siminlar aftermarket hinges offered by Lacair for the Legacy with a Lancair Rep. He said that it would take at least 10 orders to get Lancair to consider manufacturing the lower drag hinges. Right now I have 5 Legacy owners interested and I'll add Paul to that list. Lancair is certainly aware of the interest in a more aerodynamic hinge for the Legacy and as far as I'm concerned the Legacy is a beautiful plane except for the flap hinges. To the best of my knowledge, the Legacy Innovation flap hinge fairings only fair the hinge at the wing to hinge point and do not fair the entire hinge. At least that is what my Legacy Innovation fairings do.
