Angier, It should be fine. Snow machine cowls use the same stuff near the exhaust manifolds and it seems to work fine. I used Zetex with spray 3m adhesive and high temp RTV around the edges and it has worked out very well.. Randy Snarr N694RS 235/320
Sent from my iPad Angier, It looks great, though I wonder about the adhesive. I'm sure the aluminum will handle the heat, but will the glue? I've never experimented, but the adhesive on the aluminum '100 mph' tape I've used didn't seem to be intended for high temps. My two concerns are whether it will ignite, and whether it will melt or soften enough for the tape to come loose. A test with a heat gun (on a test specimen) should be sufficient to answer the question.

I had some aluminum tape kicking around so I said to self, "what the heck, lets add to N4ZQ gross weight and move CG forward at the same time." :-) Was this a useless exercise or will there be some benefit as a heat shield? The sole objective was to help preserve the exterior paint surface.
